It’s time for you to discover the Mississippi Blues Brunch at Ridgeland’s restaurant gem, Seafood R’evolution.
Sunday mornings are a little more leisurely than the rest of the weekdays. There’s no rush to get out of bed on Sundays, and you can sleep in. There is a more relaxed pace in the air. Sundays are perfect for a casual brunch and are the perfect time for family and friends to gather around a table mid-morning to share a breakfast of generous portions. Dining out for a gourmet brunch is a great way to enjoy a relaxed weekend.
My family recently experienced one such pleasant Sunday lunch at Seafood R’evolution’s Mississippi Blues Brunch in Ridgeland, MS. Their family-focused venue features live entertainment with a versatile – and decadent – brunch menu. You can feel the mood the moment you walk in, with the sounds of Jackson’s finest blues musician, Chris Gill, playing iconic tunes. Guests are warmly welcomed and children are greeted with a balloon. Each table receives a basket of handmade biscuits with a Mississippi molasses butter that will melt your cares away. The only difficulty might be deciding what to order, but I have a few recommendations.
There is a Southern accent to each item on the not-quite-breakfast-or-lunch menu. To start, a guest can choose between the famed Death by Gumbo or the classic Snapping Turtle Soup. Seafood R’evolution’s signature Beer-battered Crab Beignets stuffed with creamy cheese, served with four rémoulade sauces and the wood roasted oysters topped with parmesan, lemon and breadcrumbs are not to be missed. Pair any of the appetizers together to create a unique meal for one. But I encourage you to split a starter or two with others to expand your experience of the menu’s wide variety of flavors.
Whether you have a hankering for a brunch sandwich, traditional breakfast, or full entrée, the Mississippi Blues Brunch delivers. The steak and egg sandwich, featuring prime rib, caramelized onion, aged cheddar, and eggs on French bread will satisfy even the largest appetite. Sticking to breakfast, I ordered the Gulf Crab Omelet featuring crab, mascarpone, Creole cream cheese and roasted red pepper cream. The omelet is perfectly paired with a side of Cheddar jalapeño grits.
While we lingered over a slice of orange glazed ricotta cheesecake and freshly brewed coffee, I started pondering what to order on my next visit; the 20-Hour House-smoked Brisket, the sweet potato waffles or a plate of R’evolution’s crab claws. The Mississippi Blues Brunch at Seafood R’evolution is a thoroughly inviting space where families can take time out of their busy lives to enjoy a culinary adventure rich in Southern charm and tradition.
