One of my favorite things to eat is a really great breakfast, so when we heard that The Manship in the Belhaven / Baptist district of Jackson was serving up the most important meal of the day… Needless to say, I was excited.
Steven O’Neill and Chef Alex Eaton have created one of Mississippi’s best restaurants. While we usually have to wait until weekend brunches to see how our favorite places do breakfast food, The Manship now serves it every day.
The Manship Breakfast Menu
The Manship offers the deliciously simple and classic breakfast offerings you would expect, like the Breakfast Sandwich and the Belhaven Breakfast. But they’re no longer average fare in Chef Alex’s capable hands.
By using the quality ingredients, The Manship has raised the bar for breakfast in Jackson, MS. They even make their own house maple sausage. Yes, you read that right, they make their own sausage – and it should not be overlooked.
Eaton is Creative Even Early in the Morning
Of course, they’re not going to just let it go by serving only traditional day-starters. The Pork Belly and Eggs, for example, is served over polenta and topped with a maple glaze in a manner that exemplifies the creativity The Manship has become known for. I should probably confess that I have rarely run into a pork belly that I didn’t love, but this dish is exceptional.
The Smashed Hash Browns are also a winner – cheesy and decadent. Listed as a side, I could easily have made a meal of them.
Steven wouldn’t let us leave without trying the Fried French Toast, so I obliged. I found it to be a unique and amazing take on the dish.
Eat Like a King at The Manship
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. One should eat like a king at breakfast. I don’t know of a better place than The Manship to do that in Jackson, Mississippi.
