Looking for some local sweets this Halloween? You’ve come to the right spot!
EatJackson has compiled our own list of local tricks and treats here in the Jackson metro area. Whether you like to knock early or knock late, here’s our list of a few can’t miss doors you simply must knock on this Halloween weekend.
For Early Risers
again – this time making a spooky treat perfect for all ages. Stop by early for a chance to nab one of these yummy breakfast treats.
Spooktacular Sugar Cookies
If you’d rather save all your sweets for later, grab breakfast or lunch at the Beagle Bagel Cafe and take home a few of these cute ghoulish sugar cookies for later. Halloween themed sugar cookies are available at all locations for a limited time only on a first come-first served basis (It took us two attempts to grab the photos because they sell out quick.).
Beagle Bagel has three locations – but yes, they are a local joint and very much locally owned: 898 Avery Blvd.
Ridgeland, MS 39157 (just off of County Line near Old Canton Road) OR 100 Mannsdale Park Drive, Suite II, Madison, MS 39110 OR in Highland Village in Jackson.
Another great place to satisfy your Halloween sweet tooth is Hey, Cupcake! These cupcakes are good any day of the week and time of the year, but with cake choices in chocolate, white and yellow, these amazing Halloween themed cupcakes are a must-have. Plus, with your EatJXN Card, you can buy 4 and get the 5th cupcake free. The Phantom of the Opera cupcake is definitely my pick.
Need to send the neighborhood kids into a candy coma? Then, make sure you go by Nandy’s Candy to load up on treats for all those kids that will surely be knocking on your door (just make sure to get extras for yourself!). Nandy’s Candy has caramel apples, skulls, bats, pumpkins, and more – all the right treats to keep any tricks away!!!
Nandy’s Candy, in the very back of Maywood Mart at 1220 East Northside Drive in Jackson, MS. Open Monday – Saturday, 10 am – 6 pm.
Since it’s going to be a little warmer this Halloween, you should definitely go by Sweet Tree Yogurt and try some of their low-fat pumpkin pie frozen yogurt. I turned up my nose when I heard about this flavor, but once I tried it, I couldn’t put it down. It is absolutely a can’t miss treat for any age – and perfect even for the calorie-counters among us. However, if you want to go all in, you must ask for the fully loaded Halloween treat: the low-fat pumpkin pie frozen yogurt swirled with non-fat vanilla bean frozen yogurt topped with candy corn, whipped cream, and cinnamon. Maybe your attempt at a jack-o-lantern face will go better than mine!
Sweet Tree Yogurt, 772 Lake Harbour Suite 5 (Near that chain place – uhm, GattiTown…), Ridgeland, MS. Open 10:30 am – 9 pm weekdays, 10:30 – 10 pm on Friday and Saturday.
