Eat the Most Important Meal of the Day

209

Breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day, but personally I think during #JRW2014 anytime you eat and vote for a deserving charity is an important meal in my book.

Nonetheless, kicking the day off with local food while doing good is a great way to begin your morning, so I’ve compiled some top picks to help you eat the most important meal of the day while voting a local charity one step closer to $10,000.

Cups Latte1. Cups: an Espresso Cafe.

Over half the world starts their morning with a cup of joe, so why not have coffee for a cause this week? Drop into any of the seven participating Cups locations around the metro area to start your morning with coffee and a vote.

2. Broad Street Baking Company.

I love breakfast at Broad Street in many different forms which means Broad Street could be your one stop shop for a variety of breakfast options and daily charity voting. I recommend that on at least one of your visits you try the Tomato Gravy Egg Sandwich. This twist on a Southern favorite is bound to become your new favorite morning meal. But, if you’re more of a “continental” breakfast type, you should pick up a Chocolate Croissant to sooth your sweet tooth and add a bit of nirvana to your morning when accompanied by a good ole cup of coffee, heavy cream, please.

Campbells-TurnoversDanish3. Campbell’s Bakery.

In this case, the early bird catches the worm. Baker Mitchell Moore offers an array of breakfast goodies that vary a bit from day to day – and go fast. With his budget friendly, no-nonsense options, you’ll want to try one of his lovingly handmade biscuits or a housemade danish that’ll make you think you’ve died and gone to Denmark.

4. Chimneyville Smokehouse.

What? They serve breakfast. Yes, they sure do. Just in time for Jackson Restaurant Weeks, your local BBQ and lunch buffet favorite is serving up a mean Southern breakfast. PLUS, if you’re running late for your morning meeting, they’ve got this handy feature called a “drive-thru” that’ll serve you a proper breakfast on-the-go – and a Jackson Restaurant Week Charity Ballot now through October 11. Make sure you tell them you heard about their breakfast on Eat Jackson!

Heart&soul25. Heart & Soul Diner.

This Brandon destination serves breakfast ‘diner’ style, and I couldn’t be more crazy about it. They have several dishes that are going to instantly get your taste buds going… but think of this: Peach. Cobbler. Waffle. If that doesn’t do it for you, how about a Bananas Foster Waffle? That and so much more on their all day breakfast menu. Perfect if you sleep in this weekend or just want breakfast for supper after the games Saturday. Enough said.
