Aw, Shucks! Suck the Shucks Hot Tamales in Clinton

In a world where there seems to be a lot of craziness, occasionally, Providence wins. Take today, for instance. This morning, while taking our son to day care (via the same route we have been taking for nearly 2 years), we passed the gas station sign we’ve been passing for awhile: “Suck the Shuck Tamales, [...]

Some Like it Hot (Cocoa)

‘Tis the season for friends, family, lights, laughter… and of course, hot chocolate. Honestly, hot cocoa is not only one of my favorite treats this time of year, but also a smell, sight, and taste that really heralds the…

Garden To Fire: The Pizza Food Truck

Garden to Fire Slowly but surely, food trucks are starting to pop up in and around the Jackson area. A couple of months ago, we saw Fred’s Franks burst onto the scene, delighting downtown hotdog fans with their variety of dogs and toppings. Now, there’s…

Bonsai II Gives Clinton a Taste of Japan

Editor’s Note: One of our Clinton-dwelling Eat Jackson staff went and tried out Bonsai II Japanese Steakhouse, the new sushi and hibachi restaurant “out west!” Bonsai II is, as you might could guess, owned by the same folks as the original Bonsai on Lakeland…

After we wrapped up dinner at Froghead, we headed over to The Irish Frog, sister restaurant to Froghead, for dessert. I’m not sure how many of you remember Archestratus [...]

Froghead Grill: Casual Clinton Dining

It is not terribly often that I am in Clinton, but a good friend of mine lives there and for weeks we have been trying to find a time to catch up over dinner.  Once we finally found a date that worked for both of us, we decided to check out Froghead Grill. She had [...]

Dinner gone very wrong…. Margaritas, Clinton

We walked in around 7:15 PM and were seated promptly. Like ever other Mexican joint in town, you are typically greeted with chips and salsa before you are even greeted by your server. Tonight we actually got our queso dip we ordered, before they brought the chips. Chips are 90% of the Mexican restaurant experience. Bring them to me quickly.

I usually order a quesadilla or fajita. I figured I’d venture off the beaten path and order the shrimp skewers with veggies. Seemed like a healthy alternative to go with my cheese and chips, right? The beef taco salad the wife ordered didn’t look that great either… Here’s how the night went down.

Rochap Speaks

Simple pleasure can be found in simple food.  When things get complicated, too much thinking is required.  I don’t like to contemplate while I masticate.  The idea of comfort food usually brings a cringe of “that’s not allowed on Weight Watcher’s.”  However, as in all things, moderation is the key, but I’ll gladly overindulge at [...]

So where do you eat?

When I arrived back in the city in which I was born, 30 years later, I had a big question. Where can I eat around here? I mean we all know there’s Sonic, and Chick-fil-a and all that, but where is the good food? Well I was on a quest to find out, and I [...]
