I love eating lunch downtown. I’m always reminded of how far downtown has come lately, and how much potential growth still lurks around every corner. Just like Jackson has been, I am revitalized each time I spend time walking its streets.
Recently a friend and I decided that we needed to lunch at Parlor Market. His most recent trip left him raving incessantly in all the best ways about the Pork Belly. And me? Well, I’m always up for a trip to Parlor Market.
To start, we ordered an appetizer order of Rabbit Meatballs to split. For entrees, I landed on the Reynold’s Meatloaf while my buddy went with the tried-and-true always available and semi-famous PM Burger.
The Rabbit Meatballs
The Rabbit Meatballs arrived in a signature Parlor Market mini-skillets on a bed of Romesco. (What’s romesco? I had to look it up too… Epicurious.com defines it as A classic sauce from Catalonia, Spain, romesco is a finely ground mixture of tomatoes, red bell peppers, onion, garlic, almonds and olive oil.) Also in the skillet was arugula topped with shaved Parmesan as well as some pickled cauliflower.
This appetizer was nothing short of spectacular. Seriously, it was one of the most flavor-packed dishes I’ve eaten in recent history. The meatballs were juicy and perfectly cooked. (Rabbit gets two thumbs up from me!) The Romesco was almost the consistency of mashed sweet potatoes and, when eaten with a bite of meatball and arugula, was one of the finest combinations my taste buds have ever encountered. I can’t say enough about how perfectly balanced, hearty and complete this appetizer was from start to finish! A perfect start to a winter luncheon.
On to the Main Event… er, Dish.
The PM Burger, from was I hear, was just as pleasing as it always is.
If you’ve never seen or tried the PM Burger, you need to make it a point to do so! Legend has it that this burger starts with smoked brisket… ground combined with some beef tenderloin and a bit of Wagyu beef thrown in for good measure. (Wagyu means literally “Japanese cow” but in culinary circles – and on menus - refers to several beef with intense marbling that also produces a high percentage of unsaturated fat. And for some reason this adds up to the most amazing toe-curling beef experience ever.) That amazing mixture of beef is cooked over local pecan logs and dressed with an heirloom tomato, fresh lettuce and gourmet cheese and laid upon a daily-made fresh bun. Bottom line: this burger has flavor that just. won’t. stop.
My Reynold’s Meatloaf is a dish that makes on-again, off-again appearances onto Parlor Market’s lunch menu. This was my first time to order it, and I’m glad I took the opportunity to experience it. The Reynold’s Meatloaf is different from any meatloaf I’ve had in the past, in the most awesome way.
Reynold says the meatloaf is a combination of ground beef and pork along with housemade brioche (bread) and housemade ketchup. That housemade ketchup makes a repeat appearance in the spicy tomato glaze that coats this slice of meaty goodness.
Reynold’s Meatloaf was served on a big bed of whipped potatoes with some crispy asparagus spears. Wow-wee, that was some fine meatloaf…

We have eaten dinner at PM a few times and found it outstanding every time. We ate brunch there this past Saturday and it is the best brunch deal there is. We are probably going back again this Saturday. It was that good.
I have yet to get to actually eat at Parlor Market! I would love to try it out!
Enjoyed lunch very much with my office. Contemplating it for my birthday!
I’ve never eaten there for lunch, but I’ve certainly enjoyed every meal I’ve had there. I don’t work downtown, but a free lunch would certainly make me make the trip to give it a shot.
I have eaten at Parlor Market for dinner but not for lunch yet. I’d love to win lunch there!
Never tried the Parlor Market, but I’d love to #eatfree!
Love rabbit,…not too sure about rabbit meatballs… but can’t wait to see what Parlor Market comes up with next.
