I had the best cupcakes that I’ve ever had in my life the other day. I know that’s a big statement, but seriously… On a scale from one to ten, they were a 15. They were that good. And they’re from right here in Jackson! They are our Patty Peck Honda Take Out of the Week!
These phenomenal cupcakes came from a bakery on Old Canton Road in Jackson called For Heaven’s Cakes. I’ll admit, I got a little frustrated trying to actually find the place (Google Maps tries to put you in the middle of Parham Bridges Park), but once I did find it, it was well worth the hunt. (For the record, it is in a small strip of businesses across from Briarwood Wine and Spirits. It can be a little hard to see.)
Inside the Cupcake Factory at For Heaven’s Cakes
I walked in the door to find a display of cupcakes to my left, and a girl icing a cake in the kitchen straight ahead. She came out and greeted me as I was eyeing the beautiful display of icing capped goodies. There were probably about a dozen or so different types of cupcakes adorning the case, so I asked which were most popular. She said the Salted Caramel Cupcake and the Tiramisu Cupcake are her tops… then she added that her personal favorite was the Bailey’s Irish Cream cupcake.
Wow, how do I choose between those three? I simply cannot! “Ok give me two of each of those please!” I was headed to a friend’s house later that day, and I didn’t want to show up empty-handed. That’s code language for, “I knew I’d get some help eating these cupcakes.”
When I picked up my take-out bag full of six cupcakes, I could feel that they were chilled. I decided that if they are best chilled, I better try one RIGHT NOW for the full For Heaven’s Cakes cupcake experience!
Salted Caramel Cupcake
I couldn’t wait to try the Salted Caramel Cupcake, so I pulled back the paper and took a big bite. First of all, the For Heavens Cakes icing is the smoothest, creamiest, most perfectly sweetened icing I’ve tasted. The cake is more moist than most other cakes or cupcakes I’ve tasted. The cake and the icing, texture wise, were a flawless duo.
Moving on to taste… The cake seemed like butter cake, only better. The icing was the most interesting part. It was sweet caramel flavored, but not overly so. The icing did have a slight salty taste to it that balanced the entire cupcake’s flavor brilliantly. I insist that this caramel/salt combination is, in fact, a MUST try.
Later that day…
When I tried bites of the Tiramisu and Bailey’s Irish Cream Cupcakes, I was taken to heaven all over again.
The Tiramisu cupcake, which was topped with a chocolate covered coffee bean, had a very light cream cheese icing, which so magnificently complimented the cake part. The coffee in the cupcake gave it a wonderful flavor and also made it very moist! SO GOOD….
Bailey’s Irish Cream Cupcake
The Bailey’s Irish Cream Cupcake met my every expectation. The two previous ones set a high bar, and this one met that bar with flying colors. The icing on this one was much like the icing on the Tiramisu cupcake: lightly sweet, creamy, and airy. If you are a fan of Bailey’s Irish Cream then I urge you to try this cupcake! It was moist and just all around amazing.
Honestly, I’m running out of words to convey to you how crazy good all of these cupcakes were! I highly recommend that next time you need to grab a dessert for any reason at all, you go to For Heaven’s Cakes. You will not be disappointed!
Have you tried For Heaven’s Cakes yet? What kind of cupcake did you try and how was it?
