This morning, Chef Robert St. John went on the Out of Bounds Show here in Jackson (listen to show live daily online here wherever you are in the world) to talk about the EatJXN Card. And it wasn’t planned – at least Eat Jackson didn’t know it was going to happen. So, if you heard the show, you know what I’m about to say. But for those of you who didn’t… this is probably one of the most important things we’ve ever done here at Eat Jackson.
Eat Jackson has partnered with Chef Robert St. John and the non-profit charity he founded called ExtraTable.org. In short, ExtraTable.org helps feed hungry kids – 100% of the money that they get goes into hungry mouths. Not only that, the food is purchased at a great wholesale rate from Sysco. The food packs are healthy, balanced, right-sized portions, diabetic friendly, long-shelf life food items. AND it’s such an efficient system that not only is the food purchased at wholesale pricing – but Sysco even delivers the food straight to pre-screened, reputable kitchens and food pantries in our own community!!
Be amazed at this statistic:
Through ExtraTable.org, $250 will feed ONE PERSON three healthy meals a day for FOUR MONTHS! How incredible is that? I dare say any of our dining out budgets or even our most valiant attempts at an outstanding grocery budget could accomplish that sort of efficiency (while being healthy) for our families!
We think that ExtraTable.org is INCREDIBLE – it’s efficient, it’s healthy, it’s just doing really good things. And we are beyond excited about our partnership with ExtraTable.org – can you tell?
